The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, Sri Amritsar Sahib abbreviated as SGPC is called as the Mini-Parliament of Sikhs. Since its inception it has been performing multi-dimensional activities for the 'Sikh Sangat'. Besides managing the Sikh Gurdwaras (i.e. Holy Sikh Shrines) and looking after its cultural and historical monuments, it also runs and supports a number of Educational Institutions and Charitable Hospitals. In order to provide value-based education and health facilities, the SGPC has established many institutions. At present, the SGPC is running about 31 Colleges and 50 Schools which include two Medical Colleges; one Dental College; One Nursing College; four Colleges providing Technical Engineering Courses; and a number of other Postgraduate and Undergraduate Colleges providing specialized education in Management, Computer Sciences, Life Sciences including Bio-Technology, Bio-Informatics and Microbiology, Commerce, Humanities and Pure Sciences etc. The SGPC has also set up a full-fledged multi-disciplinary University named after 'Guru Granth Sahib' at the historic town of Sri Fatehgarh Sahib in Punjab. After successfully establishing the Nischai Civil Services Coaching Academy (NCSCA) at Chandigarh, the setting up Nischai Academy for Judicial Services (NAJS) at Patiala is another endeavour undertaken in 2024 to educate and train Sikh students for State Judicial Services Competitive Examinations.
